Rangers Mgt Don’t Owe Their Supporters Club Any Financial Obligation – Ladipo

President-General, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rafiu Ladipo, has called on the Supporters Clubs of Premier League sides in the country to look for ways of sourcing funds to carrying out their activities, instead of depending on their club managements to cater for them. Ladipo said this in a chat with Sportsday on Wednesday.

“Supporters clubs should find a way of sourcing funds through sponsorship to be able to carry out their responsibilities”. “This will make them more independent and self-sufficient rather than depend on government or club management for their survival”.

He warned that over-dependence on their management will not only make them less important but also create problems in the running of their affairs.

“I don’t expect my members to always go cap in hand asking for money from their management because that will not only pose a problem for them but will also make them less relevant in the scheme of things”.

Ladipo also disclosed that it is not obligatory on the part of the club management to bear the financial burden of the supporters club since they have the responsibility to pay players and carry out other administrative duties.

“It is not obligatory for the management of the clubsides to bear the burden of supporting the supporters clubs”. ‘But, if the clubs feel they have enough money to give out to them, then that will be at their own discretion”. So, the supporters clubs should know that the managements are not under any obligation to take care of them”, sounded Ladipo.

While expressing his opinion on the protest by the Rangers supporters club on Tuesday over the inability of the management to bear their financial burden, Ladipo advised the supporters club to find a way to source for money to handle their activities.

“We should be very careful here because if the protest was carried out because they are not satisfied with the policies of the management, I don’t see anything wrong”. ‘But, if their actions are based on the fact that the management has not been supporting them financially, then I think it is wrong of them to do so”.

“Let me also say that Rangers supporters club should not complain when the management of the club fails to help them financially because it is not binding on the management that it must be so”, concluded Ladipo.
