Following the recent armed robbery attack on Giwa FC of Jos at Okigwe
on Monday night, the Club Owners Association of Nigeria has sent a sympathy
message to the club over the unfortunate incident.
The club’s players and officials were on their way to honour the
Week 21 league match with Abia Warriors when they were ambushed by armed
robbers. Undisclosed sums of money, phones and other valuables were carried
away.
The Club Owners described the incident as shocking and
unfortunate, considering how a similar incident affected defending champions,
Kano Pillars during the first round of the league.
Meanwhile, the association has called on clubs to desist from
travelling at and ensure that safety measures are applied in their travel
arrangements for matches.
