Nigeria Professional Football League leaders Sunshine Stars
recorded their sixth league win of the current season with a 1-0 victory over
Kwara United.
The
Akure Gunners who played a 1-1 draw at Nasarawa United on Sunday entertained
Kwara United at the Akure Township Stadium on Wednesday as they seeked to
consolidate their lead on the summit of the elite division.
Kwara
United who have won three, drawn two and lost four in their nine fixtures for
the ongoing season didn't play too well according to their usual standard, as
they were grateful to the excellent performance of goalkeeper Ismail Shagari
and the criminal misses of Sunshine Stars in front of goal.
The
Ilorin based club stuck to their game at the blast of the whistle but could
only hold Sunshine Stars from scoring in the first 30 minutes of the game.
Paul
Onobi took advantage of a sloppy defending from Kwara United as the Sunshine
Stars player scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute to give his
side a 1-0 victory.
Sunshine
Stars are still on top of the ladder with 20 points from a possible 30 with
Kwara United claiming 11 from a possible 27 after the end of match day 10 in
the elite division.
