An inconsistent Sharks side was wasteful in front of goal as
they were held to a 1-1 draw against giant-killing Giwa FC in Port Harcourt.
Sharks
dominated possession and went in front through Yusuf Jaiyeola's effort before
Charles Henlong rescued a point for the Jos Elephants from the penalty spot.
The
Blue Angels could not force a winner and sit in the dreaded relegation zone.
The
technical crew of Sharks wanted a larger share of the ball before the match
underway and the Blue Angels obliged with 66% of possession in the game.
However,
against a fearless Giwa side, their dominance did not lead to the much needed
three points
In the
second minute, Jackson Daniel tried to lob Friday Achimugwu but his touch was
poor and the in-form goalie claimed the ball, while Chiamaka Madu tested the
keeper with a 30-metre strike.
The
hosts drew the curtain raiser 13 minutes into the match. Yusuf Jaiyeola headed
home from Fred Obomote's corner kick.
Giwa FC
earned a 30th minute penalty after Moses Awala handled the ball in the box,
And
captain Charles Henlong got his execution right as he netted his team's
equalizer with the spot-kick.
Nojeem
Raji and Ocheme Edoh had chances to win the game for the visitors.
Sharks
tried to force a late winner, but Giwa held out for a precious away point after
the setback of playing a draw against FC Taraba on Sunday.
