Substitute Nnamso Edo struck the winner against Shooting Stars
as Akwa United came back from a goal down to record a 2-1 victory at the Uyo
Township Stadium on Wednesday.
The
defender whipped home a 71st minute penalty to hand his team the result they
wanted.
Earlier,
the impressive Aniekpeno Udoh had brought the hosts level with a stabbed shot,
cancelling out Nojeem Olukokun's powerful first-half header.
The
loss further put more pressure on head coach of Shooting Stars Franklin Howard,
who is battling to keep his job at the hotseat of the Oluyole Warriors.
During
a season in which Akwa United have struggled to play well, victory improved
their points tally.
Fresh
faces that the technical crew of Akwa United named in the match day squad
helped deliver a hard-earned win.
Shooting
Stars, who scored first, rued their luck at the end of the match in Uyo.
