Enyimba striker, Mfon Udoh, has been released
from the Super Eagles camp preparing for next month's 2017 AFCON qualifiers
against Chad.
The record goal scorer
in the Nigerian Premier Football League had reported to camp along with other
invited home based players on Thursday, but, had to be excused from camp
activities because of an illness that also sidelined him from Enyimba's Week 10
game against Elkanemi Warriors in Aba on Wednesday.
Super Eagles coach,
Stephen Keshi, says Udoh would return to the team once he has fully recovered
from his health challenges.
“Mfon Udoh is an
important member of this team and he will be back once he has fully recovered,”
Keshi was quoted on the NFF website.
“He reported to camp
so that the Super Eagles medics can assess and also advise him. They have asked
him to take enough rest and avoid any strenuous activity so that his recovery
can be faster and more comprehensive. Once he fully recovers, he will always
get his chance with the team,” the 53-year old coach added.
Mfon Udoh set a new
goals record in the Nigerian top flight last season scoring 23 goals and with
four goals already this season he is among the premier league top scorers after
ten matches.
