Super Falcons' forward, Asisat Oshoala, has stated categorically
that she will not be under any form of pressure when the World Cup gets
underway in Canada next month.
The reigning African Best Female Footballer of the Year said
whatever individual award she got last year at the U-20 will not put her under
any pressure to perform.
"The first stage of the Olympics qualifier is gone and I
think we have to look forward to the next competition which is the senior World
Cup. We have few weeks to prepare and focus on the task at hand
"I am not under any pressure because that was a junior competition
and this is a senior competition. Definitely, it is a different ball game but
what I will say is that I will go to Canada again and give my best and prove
that I am a good player and that what happened in 2014 was not a fluke. I have
to make sure I give the fans a lot of reason to smile in Nigeria
"Winning the MVP and highest goal scorer award at the
forthcoming World Cup are secondary achievements but the primary aim is to go
there and get the trophy. That is the primary thing so whatever comes after
that is the secondary achievement" she concluded.
