Daniel Turns Hero In Fed Cup Match

Default

Emmanuel Daniel was the hero as Enugu Rangers qualified for the next round of the Federation Cup after winning 8-7 on penalties. Onoriode Odah's corner kick was headed home by Bobby Clement in the 20th minute.

Kaduna United replied through a wonderful counter attack, which saw Shamsudeen Hamisu's cross from the right flank turned home by Rangers centre-back Okey Odita for an own goal.

At the end of regulation time, the two teams played out a one-all draw at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

Both sides scored their first seven kicks.

Rangers netted their 8th kick, before Daniel saved the 8th kick of Kaduna United which was taken by Chinedu Ezeanagie.

Earlier in the day, ABU FC also eliminated Ajiroba FC 4-2 on penalties. The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

A quality performance by Waheed Popoola inspired Prime FC to beat non league side, Christ Ambassador FC to a 2-1 victory.

In the all-important Cup tie, Prime got the curtain raiser after 14 minutes with Waheed Popoola, setting up Damola Fakayode to slot the ball into the net.

Christ Ambassador rallied back to level the contest in the 23rd minute via penalty at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta.

Prime got the job done in the 44th minute as Christ Ambassador were unable to withstand the firepower of Prime midfield maestro Hakeem Olalere and Waheed Popoola attacking prowess.

It was a performance that was characterized by grit and defiance, and it was epitomized by enterprising Waheed Popoola, who set up Segun Eyitayo, for the winning goal.

The Church side, laboured in vain in search for the equalizer.
