Baba Mutum Canvass Support For New DG, NSC

Former Africa’s number 1 and World number 3 Sumo Wrestler, Emeka ’Baba Mutum’ Okeke, has expressed satisfaction with the recent appointment of Alhassan Yakmut as the Acting Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Disclosing this in Enugu during the week, Okeke, says the coming of Yakmut will create a new height for Nigeria sports development as he urged Nigerians to support the new administration.
“To me, the best thing to happen to Nigerian sports is the coming on board of Yakmut and I think it wouldn’t have been better than now”.

“I urge Nigerians who love the growth of sports must to support his administration. I want to assure that those of us from Enugu will give him the needed support and even trek to Abuja to let him know how much we appreciate his new position, once his appointment as Director General is confirmed”. “We will do this to remind him that he started being a sports administrator in Enugu state”.

“This is a man whose pedigree speaks for itself because of his antecedent in sports development. It is better days for Nigerian sports no doubt”.

Meanwhile, the Anambra-born superstar has called on the new Director General to help improve the development of lesser sports in the country under his reign.

He explained that for a long time, lesser sports in the country have been treated like “orphans” which has not showed the needed attention which sports development really needs for positive growth.

“I’m very hopeful that under Yakmut, lesser sports in Nigeria will get the much needed attention which we have all craved for”.

“For sports in its entirety to make a meaningful impact, there must be a concerted effort towards giving what is due to the sports federation”. “I do believe that if that is done, the sky will be the limit for the country” stated Okeke.

Until his latest appointment, Yakmut was the Directorof Grassroots Sports in the National Sports Commission.
