Coach Stephen Keshi is expected
to face sack if he fails to reach the semi-finals of both the 2016 African
Nations Championship (CHAN). Clause 4.1 of Keshi’s new contract states that the
Nigeria Football Federation shall employ the head coach for a period of two
years.
That means, should the Eagles under the head coach fail to qualify for
the semi-finals of next year’s CHAN, the NFF may decide to terminate the
present contract. The former Togo coach won the
2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa with the Eagles, after failing to
lift the trophy in 19 years and also won bronze with the home-based Eagles in
the CHAN tournament held in South Africa in 2014.
