Regardless of what goes on in a New York courtroom, WBA “regular” heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (33-2-1, 20 KOs) is planning to defend his title against Francesco Pianeta (31-1-1, 17 KOs) in 37 days on July 11 at the GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany.
Chagaev is currently preparing for the fight at the Mundo Boxing Gym in Miami, Florida, under the direction of trainer Pedro Diaz, the Cuban “boxing professor.”
Pianeta is preparing in Munich, Germany with trainer Dirk Dzemski.
The rest of the card is an all heavyweight affair featuring German champion Michael Wallisch (14-0, 9 KOs), International German champion Steffen Kretschmann (19-2, 17 KOs), Tom Schwarz (12-0, 8 KOs), Edmund Gerber (24-2, 15 KOs) and Apti Davtaev (8-0-1, 8 KOs) against separate opponents.
