The management of Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu has sacked the team’s Technical Adviser, Kelechi Emeteole while Chief Coach, Imama Amapakabo, has been directed to take over the team.
The decision which was
announced on Wednesday after a crucial meeting by the management followed the
unimpressive outing of the club in this year’s Nigeria Professional Football
League.
While speaking to Dream Sports
Yarn on Wednesday, the club’s Media Officer, Foster Chime, says the decision to
relieve Coach Emeteole of his duty was long over-due since the team’s outing
has been poor.
“Yes, the decision to sack the
coach is in the best interest of the club because the team has been drowning
since the beginning of this season and that’s too bad for a club like Rangers”.
“The club management had a
crucial meeting today (Wednesday) and decided that Emeteole should step aside
until further notice”. “We want to watch how things will play out when the
league resumes next month and after that, we will know what to do”.
“For now, the club’s chief
coach, Imama Amapakabo, will take over immediately
Foster also appealed to the club’s fans to exercise patience
with the team as everything is being done to remedy all the set-backs that the
team has faced this season.
“I’m calling on the club’s fans to exercise patience with the
team and keep supporting the team”. “Everything will be done to make sure the
team bounce back to reckoning”, says Foster.
