Pressure Mounts On Pillars Coach Emordi

Default

Pressure is mounting on Kano Pillars head coach Felix Okey Emordi following the team's recent string of poor results.

Emordi is set to be subjected to a torrid time by a section of the fans who are ready to turn on him as the reality and pain of a string of losses sets in, especially after Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Shooting Stars in a Nigeria Professional Football League showdown.

It was the third successive loss for Pillars after their League defeats to Heartland FC (1-0) and Kwara United (1-0) in Ilorin the previous weekend.

A section of the disgruntled fans were overheard in Ibadan chanting in Hausa: “the coach should be fired!”

Sources close to the experienced coach say he is not worried with the prospect of being fired.

“As a professional I cannot go into details, but we have some internal problems that have contributed to the team's recent poor results” says an official of the club.

The official also stated that he was not worried with their loss to Shooting Stars saying the team failed to make use of a plethora of chances they created.

“We had chances, but we failed to make good use of them. I am absolutely certain that we will turn the table,” he said.

The management are reportedly set to meet on Friday when they are to recommend that the coaching panel should be given a four-game ultimatum.

The officials said they would go back to the drawing board and chart the way forward.
