The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has disclosed that coaches of the cadet team are yet to submit their programme of activities ahead of the FIFA World Cup holding in Chile in October.
However,
the football house says the Golden Eaglets will start their preparation for the
FIFA U-17 World Cup as soon as the team’s head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, hands
his programme of activities to the house.
The Eaglets finished fourth during the CAF U-17 Championship
held in Niger Republic recently and pressure has been on the Amuneke-led
technical crew to prepare the squad ahead of the World Cup campaign or give way
to another coach.
The Vice Chairman of the NFF’s Technical and Development
Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, says Amuneke has not submitted his
programme for the World Cup and that until that is done, nothing can be said
about the team’s camping itinerary.
He said the NFF is working towards ensuring that the Golden
Eaglets make appreciable impact at the World Cup in Chile and that everything
would be put in place to see to it that the team doesn’t disappoint passionate
soccer loving Nigerians.
Fresh said that Amuneke has been going round the six
geographical zones of Nigeria to fish out hidden talents to replace those that
couldn’t measure up during the African Championship in Niamey.
The 16th edition of the Fifa U17 World Cup will
start from October 17 through November 8 with the Eaglets as the defending
champions after their victory at the 2013 edition held in the U.A.E.
