The Super Falcons will play either Ghana or Cameroon or both of
them in friendly matches before they leave for Canada, SL10.ng understands.
The
reigning African champions have been in camp in Abuja, and were supposed to
play Mali last weekend in an Olympic Games qualifier, before the Malians
withdrew from the process.
With no
competitive game in sight to get the team into shape before the World Cup, reports
say the Nigeria Football Federation has reached out to both the Cameroonian
Football Association and the Ghana Football Association for possible friendly
matches before they leave for their Canada camp.
Both
countries are yet to respond to the NFF’s request as at the time of filing this
report, but it is believed that the responses will be in the affirmative.
The
Falcons are billed to leave for Canada in seven days, and the NFF wants to get
them to play one or two ‘top’ friendlies before they leave.
Meanwhile,
the team is also expected to play a few friendly matches in Canada against yet
to be determined opponents, all in preparation for the World Cup which starts
in North America in June.
The
Nigerians are in a tough group, as they will play the USA, Sweden and North
Korea.
