Champions League football would lure Andre Ayew, says father

Abedi Ayew says his son Andre, who future has been a subject of intense speculation, could be lured by a Champions League club.

The Ghana legend has been acting as an agent for the Olympique Marseille winger whose contract at the Stade Velodrome runs out this June.

Marseille are in the title race to win this season’s Ligue 1 as they lie in third place; four points behind leaders Lyon.

He has been linked with stellar European sides Liverpool, Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund and Napoli.

Abedi, a Marseille legend himself, says his 25-year-old son wants to play in Europe elite inter-club competition.

“His dream is to win the league. Of course, after that, it is implied that you play in the Champions League, ” the three-time African Footballer of the Year told LaProvence.com

Andre has scored 5 goals in 18 appearances for Marseille despite missing the start of the season due to his participation at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the second half because of his involvement in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
